Bus to Mollepata (local bus if less than 5 people)
Highlights of the day:
A 3-hour hike to Cruzpata. Panoramic view of beautiful snowy mountains (Nevado Humantay; 4120 m / 13500 ft and Salkantay; 6271 m / 20575 ft. More ascent to Soraypamapa with beautiful landscapes on the way.

Accommodation:
Campsite with tents at Soraypamapa 4200m / 13750ft. This place is the highest and coldest camp on our trek.
Second day:

Highlights of the day:
Ascend to the highest pass of the trek 4650m / 13500ft between Salkantay mountain on the right and Tucarhuay on the left with stunning views. The mountains are covered in snow all year round and there is a chance of snow at this height. Descend through the spectacular cloud forest landscape towards Huayracpunku and the beginning of the high jungle.

Camping in tents in Colcapampa 3000m / 9800ft.

Third day:
Start time:

Highlights of the day:
We will walk through the upper jungle crossing the Lluskamayo River and many other streams to La Playa. The scenery is varied as we pass waterfalls and see many tropical fruits and plants. After arriving in Santa Teresa, we will visit the hot springs for a relaxing afternoon (Colpamayo).

Fourth day:
Start time:
8 a.m.
Travel:
Walk to Machu Picchu town. You can also take the train (optional) from the hydroelectric station to Aguas Calientes.
Highlights of the day:
After crossing the Santa Teresa bridge and following the Urubamba River upstream, we pass through many coca leaf, banana and coffee plantations until we reach the hydroelectric station. From here we can see the Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains until we reach Aguas Calientes.

Bus to Machu Picchu
Highlights of the day:
A walking tour (2 hours) of Machu Picchu with your guide. Optional ascent to Huayna Picchu 2720m / 8923ft. It takes 45 minutes to reach the top.

You will return to Cusco to your own accommodation for tonight.

CONDITIONS
- The Salkantay Trek starts from March to December. We do not do this trek in January or February, because the Inca trail is under maintenance and the rainy season in the mountains.
- Our tours are based on the number of people in a group.
- Student Discount: $25 off per person

- Your guide will give you your train tickets. The train usually leaves around 2:55 p.m. and arrives in Cusco at 7:45 p.m. although this may be subject to change. You can choose to have an extra night in Aguas Calientes to explore Machu Picchu more and visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes.
- The train included in all tours is the backpacker from Cerrojo (Ollanta). Train schedules will only be confirmed once the full amount of the tour has been paid. The first train you can take is the one at 13:37 p.m. and the one at 9:20 p.m. It’s the last train. Mapi Trekking Peru will organize transportation back to Cusco (by taxi or by bus).
